"Hookers and Blow"?

I thought that was the sequel to Frank Zappa's "Titties and Beer."

I'm a Democrat, pro Obama and in the LGBT community. However, I wish to support the Republicans in this situation. At any given moment people somewhere are having hard times. This reality does not require those of us lucky enough to have an opportunity to enjoy life to refuse to do so out of "support" of the people unable to do so. Indeed we're more likely to be able to provide support to others if we care for ourselves rather than beat ourselves up since other people aren't able to care for themselves.

Additionally, and some activists may find this hard to imagine, for many people when we care for ourselves we may just want to get down and boogie rather than go work on a soup line or such.

Finally, and read my lips on this, the Democrats will lose this election if they forget that people have emotional needs. We can not always focus on the high brow stuff and expect voters to shoot themselves in their own feet. More people will always show up for a good party than for a good cause.
