I'll just quote Peter Tatchell for context:

Large parts of Iraq are now under the de facto control of the militias and their death squad units. They enforce a harsh interpretation of Sharia law, summarily executing people for what they denounce as "crimes against Islam." These "crimes" include listening to western
pop music, wearing shorts or jeans, drinking alcohol, selling videos, working in a barber's shop, homosexuality, dancing, having a Sunni name, adultery and, in the case of women, not being veiled or walking in the street unaccompanied by a male relative.

Thanks for posting this Bil. The situation for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East is getitng even worse, and they desperately need funds to maintain safe houses.

Virtually all the militias and police forces of the Shiite and Sunni death squads have been armed by the US at some point. Neither the US nor its collaborationist government will lift a finger to stop these murders. They are solely responsible for them.

Religion is the enemy and so are those politicians who pander to religious bigotry. We won't be able to take on these cults until we build, nation by nation, an internationalist GLBT Left sufficiently large and militant enough to compel, by mass action, the passage of laws outlawing hate speech and hate crimes. .

That’s especially true of the the catholic cult and the bigoted murdering ayatollahs in Iraq and Iran. Although they wear different robes and headgear in Rome and Teheran, they’re fundamentally the same predatory, hate filled pack of liars, no-account parasites and killers.

Here are some other sources about the situations our international brothers and sisters face:

That's a very difficult piece to read if you look at many of Tratchell's links.

I'm wondering if there are any in the Bush administration who feel any sorrow whatsoever for the Iraqis who have died because of our invasion, 'cause I sure do.
