The best part of living in Paris is that there are literally dozens of concerts every night in the city, and tonight I'm going to see the French trans electro-punk duo Mauvais Genre! Here's home-made video for their "Chatte" (borderline NSFW).
The video for their "Reines de la Nuit" ("Queens of the Night") is after the jump.
Update: Alberto and I just got back from the Mauvais Genre concert, and it was amazing. I haven't been to a concert that good since the last time I went to see the Dirty Projectors here in Paris in May.
They had some great songs and a great stage presence. On-stage, they were sexy, cute, completely geeky, dancing like they were in their own private Sailor Moon episode. The location wasn't all that great - the tiny basement of a tiny cafe - so it was like they stepped down from their spaceship to play to the two dozen people who showed up.
Their songs were awesome, though, so check out their MySpace. Be sure to give "Gisberta" a listen, it was a sad song about a murdered Portuguese transwoman that had me in tears by the time Lolita asked, "What crime did she commit to be so severely punished?"
They have an incredible amount of talent and they're producing interesting and accessible techno. I'll be heading off to another one of their concerts in two weeks to see them again... and to see if they've released their first album.

I have to say, going to see a concert by a trans techno band in the basement of a tiny Parisian cafe sounds like the experience of a lifetime.
I'm so jealous.
