Homophobic FMA author Marilyn Musgrave might lose reelection

The LGBT community is probably familiar with Marilyn Musgrave, the Congresscritter from Colorado's 4th District, because she wrote the Federal Marriage Amendment to ban same-sex marriage and kept on introducing it into the House, even when she knew it'd fail. Because, as she put it, "as we face the issues that we are facing today, I don't think there's anything more important out there than the marriage issue."
Well, Politico's reporting that the NRCC has pulled out of Musgrave's campaign:
Last week, Republicans were forced to make difficult financial decisions that impacted several of their top challengers. Today, those hard choices are impacting incumbents.
Multiple sources with knowledge of GOP spending decisions tell The Scorecard the National Republican Congressional Committee has pulled ad money from Colorado's Fourth Congressional District, where Rep. Marilyn Musgrave faces a difficult race for a fourth term.
The NRCC has already invested just over $800,000 on Musgrave's behalf, including a $376,000 media buy this week, according to FEC reports filed Monday. Those ads will continue to run, leaving Musgrave without GOP backing for the final week before Election Day.
The DCCC has spent about $775,000 on behalf of ex-congressional aide Betsy Markey, and outside groups like Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund and EMILY's List have run a whopping $1.15 million in ads of their own slamming Musgrave.
The only reason the national party pulls out of House races they might lose is if it's become a lost cause, and apparently it has:
Polling so far hasn't been good for Musgrave this year. A Roll Call poll by SurveyUSA in August put Markey ahead by 7 percentage points and a more recent poll by EMILY's List, a Markey supporter, put Markey up by 9 points. The EMILY's List poll is somewhat skewed being it included a smaller percentage of registered Republicans than the 4th's voter demographics. In addition, Markey's campaign also released internal polling in June that showed her up over Musgrave by 4 percentage points. Musgrave's campaign has not released any polling in recent months and no outside groups gauging the race have shown Musgrave in the lead.
Markey's campaign seemed optimistic about their candidate's standing coming into the final week of the election when contacted by The Colorado Independent Wednesday afternoon.
"This is a pretty clear indication that Musgrave's negative campaign is backfiring on her," Markey spokesman Ben Marter said adding they are remain focused on finishing the campaign with the same strategy they have adopted thus far. "We're going to keep doing what we have been doing. Working hard, talking to voters, getting Betsy's message out there. There is still two weeks to go."
Musgrave is one of the craziest fundies in the House, so it's no surprise that out-of-state money's been flooding in for her opponent. Knocking her out of the Congress would be a victory over the theocons who put her there in the first place.
I'm guessing her district just got tired of her asshattery, ignoring everything else in her crusade against the gays. She at least showed that she got the message because she didn't reintroduce FMA after her near-defeat against Democratic challenger Angie Paccione in 2006.

What's happening to Marilyn Musgrave in this district needs to be replicated at all levels of government all over this country.
Teach them that unhinged opposition to GLBT rights has a political cost.
Even if you just scare them a bit, it drives that message home.

There's a special room in hell reserved for Musgrave and her friends, if not the insane asylum. May they arrive there as soon as possible.

I met Betsey Marksey at the DNCC and she was spectacular. Jon Hoadley introduced us. She should definitely be the next Congresswoman.

The RNCC has also pulled their money out of the Bachmann House race in MN. She being the woman who said that Obama is anti-American and that the Congress should be investigated for their anti-American views. Up until then, she was considered in a safe seat. Needless to say, she's a big homophobe.
There's also a lot of consternation from Republican candidates that $150,000 of the money that was supposed to go to elect them, paid for Palin's wardrobe.
The wolves are starting to turn on one another as the ship goes down. (thoroughly mixing my metaphors)
