The news out here in CA is the hacking of the No on 8 website. It seems there was a coordinated attack on the site and Florida's No on 2 site.

I've heard over and over again, it's so hard to be good. Why can't we deploy these scummy tactics? Why don't we hack their websites? Create outrageous lies in our ads to scare people into voting our way?
Because we see ourselves as the good guys. We can't stoop that low. I know that's right but sometimes, I get so frustrated. I just want to win.
We won't. Of course we won't. We're not willing to give up our ideals, our morals, our beliefs. Someone should remind the Log Cabin Republicans of that.
I'm going out to a women's event in Oakland today.
Senator Barbara Boxer and Congresswoman Barbara Lee will kick off "Women's No on 8 BYOCell - Cell Phone Call to Action," aimed at rallying Democratic women to actively work to defeat Prop 8. Senator Boxer, Congresswoman Lee, Assemblywoman Loni Hancock, and Women's Foundation of California Chair Elmy Bermejo will hold a press conference at Everett & Jones Barbecue in Oakland as volunteers call women voters to urge them to go to the polls on November 4th and cast their ballots against Prop 8.
Come if you can. Look for me- I'll have on a Mass Equality button. I'll buy you a beer to go with that barbecue.
We'll do what we do best- call, ask, plead our case. Gather together to remember, if nothing else, that this is the right thing to do.
And the right way to do it.

Because it's not strategically viable. We're the historically socially unpalatable group; they're not. We are under heavy scrutiny. Confirmation bias would highly work against us should some shady tactic be exposed, while the bigots do not have to thread so lightly.

As I wrote that, I realized that I'm probably one of the worst types of liberals - I actually care about being right, sometimes more than being happy.

I still maintain that if we TRULY thought we deserved equal marriage rights, we would not be so worried about "Keeping Up Appearances". We may even DEMAND civil rights with the one thing we CAN control; our wallets.

It's a fine line to walk. Everyone's definition of "good" and whether or not the means the ends justify the means are two of the most fought over and discussed areas of humanity.

We haven’t lost yet. The race is tightening but the problem with the polls is the LGBT version of the Bradley effect.
How many people will vote against us but are afraid to be branded as a bigot and lie to pollsters? A less than exact way to measure that is to ask them if their friends are voting their bigotry. But I'm not aware of that being done recently about Prop. 8 or the measures in Arizona and Florida.
These dirty tricks are usually committed by political operatives and the worst of them have been Republicans. What ever the outcome we have to go after the cults for interfering in civil affairs and specifically go after yeson8 for blackmail and dirty tricks.
Maybe someone can 'follow the money' and track this down for us.

You know, a week ago I would have agreed with your opening comment. I have experienced many acts of cowardice, hatred, and meanness from folks who are for Prop 8.
All of the folks I know who are against Prop 8 are good people who would never stoop so low as to remove or deface Yes-On-8 signs.
While talking to a friend in San Jose (CA)yesterday she told me of an issue in the Bay Area of folks stealing No-On-8 signs. There they go again, being bad people.
Then last night I received a news report from the Sacramento Bee which detailed a group of 3 teenagers who were found, by the police, stealing lawn signs. It turns out that they had mis-appropriated at least 53 Yes-On-8 signs. The 53 signs were found in their car.
Now I am ashamed to say that these teenagers gave us a really bad name last night.
I know there are good and bad people on both sides of this argument, and after all this is America, but I really did believe that the No-On-8 group were the good-guys.
Now I know better. We are all alike.
