Hercules & Love Affair is one of the nominees for "Outstanding Music Artist" in the GLAAD Media Awards Jason posted about earlier this week. It was the first I heard of this band, and they're fuckin' awesome. They're a really mixed group that's headed by a leather queen and has a trans woman and a lesbian DJ on vocals.
This is their song "You Belong."
And here's their "Blind."
Here's Kim Ann Foxman, speaking with AfterEllen, on being a queer band:
"Some people are going for that 'queer' band thing," Foxman stated. "We just never set out to do that -- we never made it a point. It isn't the point. Of course I'm proud to be a part of queer culture, we just happen to be very colorful group in the band that are all coming together for one reason: to play music that we love. That has nothing to do with our sexual preferences."
This group is really awesome. I hope they win the GLAAD Media Award!
