I grew up on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
It was a fantastical escape from teen angst and family drama. I always wanted to be (or be with, it's all cloudy...) Wesley Crusher - he was cute, geeky, and eventually filled out his uniform nicely. Incidentally, I follow Wil Wheaton's blog - if you don't read it, it's truly one of the best written blogs on the web - he's still cute, still geeky...and happily married.
Another one of my favorites from my teens is Batman. I read the comics, I watched the movies, I loved the kitschy 60s TV show, and I've enjoyed several incarnations of animated Batman. The Dark Knight just blew me away even if Christian Bale sounded like he'd had a tracheotomy...But I digress.
My inner geek is compelled to tell you about the confluence of these geek-heroes coming up this Friday at 8:00PM on the Cartoon Network. Wil Wheaton appears as the Blue Beetle in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The episode is called "Fall of the Blue Beetle!" The title makes it sound like it will be his one and only appearance, so make sure you catch it. Set your DVR or tune in if you can.
Catch a preview of the episode after the jump.

Oh my Goddess! Wesley Crusher?
The Hisat'haterac (sp, been too long since I read Dune.)
I got to absolutely hate him. Nothing personal mind you, but they made him into a caricature on the show.
"Oh no, we are facing an impossible to escape situation!"
(Enter Wesley, wearing cape.).
"Have no fear, I have developed a new power or ability, just so we can get out of this unescapable situation."
(Enterprise is saved from disaster at the last second, crew cheers Wesley.)
My grilfriend at the got so she dreaded seeing him on the show, knowing that the mocking was soon to begin from me as Wesley once again saved the day. I think to this day she can not stand to hear the term 'hisat'haterac', dreading the flashbacks.
though that girl that he became involved with later on in the show was pretty easy on the eyes, I must admit.

What can I say, it was late at night, I couldn't for the life of me remember the word at the time.
It was those nightmares of Wesley I am sure.

Does this mean you're going to make me wear a Blue Beetle costume now? *sigh* Just don't call me Wesley. :)
