Fort Lauderdale has a new mayor! The hideous reign of the homophobic Mayor Naugle is over.

Shortly before the polls closed earlier this evening, I interviewed him. Watch it after the jump.

Off camera we continued to chat and I was surprised to find him rather pro-LGBT. More on this on my blog.

Oh Noes! How will the $250,000 robotic toilets get installed if Naugle isn't mayor?

I think you are very loving Father Tony. I think that is admirable but perhaps not wise. I do not agree with supporting a man who will not support you or me. A man who will take for granted his right to marry and deny you the same thing. It is real simple. I am sure you have heard it all before. I would rather not support anyone if their is no one of value. I guess what i am saying is that i did not like the video much. My antennae went straight up. The only word that comes to mind for me is CHARLATAN.

Naugle was a complete ass. Anything is better than him. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

What doubt Bill? He is not for same sex marriage. That is not in doubt at all. Why give benefits to him. He won't be doing anything for you.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. When the hell did marriage become the only measure of LGBT equality? It's not the panacea of our movement and not the only stick by which to judge if someone is an ally.

You don't move people by dismissing them. You move them by engaging them.

*sigh*

who said marriage was the only measure of equality on this thread other than you Jerame?
