Financial supporters of Florida's Amendment 2, the dangerously worded constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in the state, may now have their day in the sunshine.
A new website called Marriage4All.org has launched with a handy, searchable database and map so you can find out who in your area gave money to take away the rights of others. But this site provides more than just names of contributors, it also has information on conflict resolution and how to approach those around you to talk about the real impact of Amendment 2.
It's not retribution, it's about changing minds and holding people accountable.
Readers may remember that there was much controversy and investigation into the illegal campaign tactics of the Yes2Marriage Campaign. Illegal money funneling to shield donors, 3rd party produced ads, and other misdeeds helped the group pass the Amendment in November.
Perhaps this is a chance to see what businesses gave financial support and take your money elsewhere, as well as see who in your neighborhood gave money and start a dialogue to help in future pro-equality efforts.
So check out www.Marriage4All.org and see what names pop up. You may be surprised...

I think a lot of people who voted for Amendment 2 did so without realizing that it also blocked Civil Unions and other forms of union, just thinking that it means "gays can't marry". Well sure, but now you've made it that they can't do anything even vaguely similar to marriage.
My partner works for a non-profit that fought hard to prevent this Amendment from passing. Seeing it go through was heartbreaking.

I don't see anything on the map indicated the donors. I'm on a Mac. Does that matter?
I worked very hard against 2, and I'd really like to see who gave money toward it.

I'm on a MAC as well and I can see the donor information. If you are having problems, try going to the resources pages and there is a text list of donors there.

I can't see the map either, and I'm on a Mac. Or rather, I get a map but it is just a map of North America. Is there a problem with the site or is it not Mac-compatible?

I'm wondering who put this site up. Bilerico? Waymon? It seems that if we are talking about accountability. The people who posted this should show some too.
I'm just sayin'

There seems to be something wrong with the underlying data. Click on every single map point shows a total contribution of $50....
I would also agree with Michael's comment as to who these people are. While I have no problem with them posting public information, I would like to know something about who is behind this.

I don't really think there's any saving to be done for Florida. I see it as one of the lost states, much akin to Texas, that will simply need to be forced by a federal entity.
