January 28 was myblack women on computer.jpg one year anniversary as a blogger on the Project and it's been awhile since I posted over here. I know you Projectors have inquiring minds and want to know why it's been several weeks my last post on January 17.

It's time to share with you some of the reasons I haven't posted here since mid January.

I had to juggle things a bit since I had changes in my work life which jacked with my writing schedule combined with increased responsibilities in the organizations I'm a board member of. I've also been fielding increased requests for my writing in other areas of the blogosphere and beyond in addition to doing some interviews as well.

While I love writing here and have fun doing so, the Prop 8 negativity that bubbled over into attacks on my people made it less enjoyable for me to post here.

I understood the frustration and the sentiment since we in the transgender community went through the same 'righteous anger' phase after we got screwed in 2007, but the racism expressed really bothered me and I felt the need to step away from this space for a minute.

The Best LGBT Weblog Award nomination for TransGriot gave me that opportunity and I focused my attention on creating some content for and promoting my own blog.

So now that I've gotten the time management issues sorted out, I'm ready to slip back into my role of being that truth teller. We have too many people, to paraphrase the late poet Gwendolyn Brooks, wanting to chomp on candy bars because the truth is not always palatable.

We have problems in this community that need frank discussions, but at the same time when I need to point out the stuff that's done right, the praise will come as well. All I am is just the messenger.

So be forewarned, Projectors...I'm baaaaaack!
