The efforts to move the Marriage Equality bill forward in Maine have been successful. The Senate Judiciary Committee passed the bill out of Committee to the full Senate today on a vote of 11 to 2 to 1. The full Senate is expected to vote in the next 48 hours.
You can help pass this important piece of legislation and continue to add states to the growing list.
Equality Maine, another one of the state-wide organizations that actually engages in effective grassroots action, has set up a virtual phone bank. You can call into Maine voters from anywhere in the country as long as you have an internet connection and a phone. This is an amazingly effective tool, and I know that Equality Maine would welcome all the help it can get.
If you can help out, email Jeff Thibeau over at Equality Maine to lend a hand.

I has the pleasure of meeting some of the Equality Maine team including Betsy Smith over the weekend at LGBT Power Summit in Portland. They are doing truly amazing work and we need to support them in any way that we can.

I currently live in Seattle but was born and raised in Searsport Maine. I'm so proud of the progress we are making in Maine and look forward to the day that I can return to my home state and marry the love of my life.
