"In no small part, Dr. Kameny's work, and other leaders like him, made it possible for me to stand here today."
--John Berry, the new director of the Office of Personnel Management and the highest ranking openly gay official in the Obama Administration, at his swearing-in ceremony. He was speaking of LGBT-rights pioneer Dr. Frank Kameny, who in 1957 had been fired by the federal government for being gay.

Berry does stand on the shoulders or Dr Kameny and members of the Mattachine Society of Washington who worked for a decade and a half to revers the discriminatory policies of the US Civil Service Commission.
