The Feminist Porn Awards were rocking last weekend. On Friday, the awards ceremony was held in, of all places, a church. Clips were played from each winning film, and I must say that I can't help but recommend them all. There were definitely a few of my favorites, though.
Under the cut I've gathered clips and previews of several of my favorites.
I was happy to present a few of the awards, including Steamiest Trans Scene, which went to The Crashpad Series Vo. 2 - for one of my personal favorite scenes. Julie is friend of mine so I had to run out to the hallway and call her to tell her she won. You can see a clip of it from the from the Crashpad webpage (NSFW of course). The Crashpad Series is a web series that I have shot for myself, so I definitely recommend checking out all of their current content.
I also presented Best Kinky Film, which went to Perversions of Lesbian Lust Vo. 1, by Madison Young. Madison has been engaged in some amazing work and was one of the other directors on the panel with me the following night. Her film, following her in search of the perfect dominant, displays hot and expressive BDSM play within a context that feels conscious, connected, and empowered.
Courtney Trouble who runs the wonderful website http://www.nofauxxx.com won Most Deliciously Diverse Cast for her film Roulette. From the beginning Courtney's work has been about representing the queer community in all its beautiful diversity, proudly proclaiming "We do not take gender, size, race, or any other 'consideration' into consideration when choosing our models." Roulette is no exception and includes a healthy variety of hot models performing scenarios that many wouldn't have even thought of.
The Movie of the Year Award went to Champion, an excellent plot driven film that takes place inside the world of women's professional Mixed Martial Arts boxing. I haven't seen it yet, but after hearing all about it and seeing several clips, I'm dying to. Here's the official preview (again NSFW).
The following night was the Feisty Feminist Porn on the Big Screen event where I and four other directors - Including Madison Young and Courtney Trouble - screened clips from our films and discussed our work in Q&A session although a more complete description will have to wait until next week.

Curious - how did you get into directing porn? Did you have other video experience?

I took a film class in middle school, but other that that, no. I knew next to nothing about film, lighting, etc, when I started. But I talked with people who did, figured out what I needed to know, and got people with film experience to do the camera work. It was quite a learning experience.
