Sorry Bil, but no matter how they try to "pretty it up," their message of hate is ugly, ugly, ugly. I couldn't stand listening past the first 15 - 20 seconds.

i think the point is that with so many voices speaking so loudly, and trying to desperately to preach a message of fear and hate...

truth not only triumphs, it speaks louder.

The piece was presented as being "anti-gay," but with the promise that it was "lovely and beautiful."

The filmmaker tried too hard to be clever. It backfired by turning off a portion of the intended audience. You can't expect your audience to sit thru the screening when the first 1/3 of the film is distasteful, and there's no reasonable expectation of improvement.

As I expected, from the description, I saw "lovely and beautiful" videography/cinematography, with voice-over that was nothing short of filth. The narrative turned me off from the start, and I had no reason to believe it was going to improve. Remember, I was led to believe it was "anti-gay." I turned it off, as I'm prone to do when I find something distasteful.

Sue me. And I'm no "moron."

Speaking as a heterosexual (which might be the "persuadable" demographic the director was trying to reach), I was struck by the complete disconnect between the speakers words and the imagery, which rebutted forcefully what the speakers were saying. They say, "Gays are ruining America," and I'm thinking, "THESE GUYS?!?" But even before they show the guys and we're just seeing this beautiful cinematography, I keep thinking, "Gays are here, and yet, America is no worse off. In fact, it's rather stunning, and I'm supposed to believe two guys kissing can destroy all that?!?

So...I thought it was effective....because it puts front and center the conflict between the humanity and compassion for all a lot of us want to feel and the faiths that often tell us we can't.

That's what I got out of this movie.

i agree! i think that's the same response i had, and how it 'hit' me as i watched it. also, i'm straight as well- so perhaps it 'does' what it's supposed to do- for whom it's intended.

and i think that would explain the 'oddness' about the title... it's ambiguous on purpose i think, to get those who NEED to rethink things.

As distasteful as it may be to hear these homophobes spew their hatred and distain of us, we've heard it all before. To hear them all one after another most certainly got Matt's message across to me. Among all the beauty and love that life has to offer, hate will try to rear it's ugly head to destroy it. Whether we allow it to make us become cynical and mean spirited as these people, is solely up to us.

Not to worry Matt, we won't shot the messenger for delivering the message, even if we don't care much for it. Very powerful and well done, I'll post it to my website. Kudos' Matt..
