What is this, a summer seminar on race? Judge Sonia Sotomayor, Lou Dobbs, and the cop, the professor and the President have a beer - what a conversation the nation is having!

I hope that it is, we certainly need to keep engaging in seminars on race and mutual education in our culture.

yeah its good to see that at least gay community is taking notice that this country is becoming a more colorful place and it is ok to be diverse and actually makes sense when we go around lecturing others to embrace us as LGBT folks. But, only if our self-appointed, shameless, "white" power hoarder leaders from privleged backgrounds of all these national gay orgs knew and could relate to a tolerant diverse society.

I wish we were having the engagement a la a national version of the Coming To the Table* encounters. Wouldn't it be fabulous if we would have a national Coming To the Table long weekend that everyone got to participate in? What would the following Tuesday be like?
* From a CTTT press release:
Coming to the Table was founded in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s prayer during his speech at the March on Washington in 1963 that ‘the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.’”
The first meeting of descendants of the enslaved and enslavers took place in January 2006. The vision of Coming to the Table is for a healing process that can be utilized by individuals, families, communities, and other organizations and contribute to a national conversation about healing from the historic wounds of slavery that continue to impact people today and to undo present-day systems of injustice and inequity.
