Yesterday Batwoman announced her candidacy to become the first lesbian mayor of Washington, DC. Batwoman aims to unseat current Mayor Adrian Fenty. If elected, Batwoman would not only become the first openly lesbian mayor of DC, but she would also be the first superhero and the first Jewish mayor of our nation's capital.
'I have spent the majority of my life focused on building stronger communities, fighting violent crime and corruption and advocating equality for all residents,' says Batwoman. 'My father instilled in me the values of hard work and commitment to service. I have taken those lessons I learned as a girl and have applied them to my adult life as a crime-fighting super hero.'

Batwoman began her career as a crime-fighter after graduating with honors from Howard University with a B.A. in Gender Studies. Her commitment to community service drives her efforts to rid the streets of violence, bigotry and corruption. In high school she faced anti-gay bullying and learned martial arts to defend herself.

I should say, Wonder Woman's team has also done outreach too but Batwoman won my heart right away. Her support of LGBT rights combined with a kick-ass attitude swung my endorsement.
NOI's whole idea of running this mock campaign is fantastic. Can we actually vote, Michael? How do you "win" the campaign?

Look, all that I'm saying is that people should not be allowed to run for public office without disclosing their full name. WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

Spiderman's in the race, too, and while he isn't LGBT himself, he has a strong equality plank in his platform:
"As mayor, Spider-Man would fully support equal rights to all citizens - gay or straight. He applauds the District's recognition of out-of-state same-sex marriages and looks forward to working towards fully inclusive marriage rights. And of course - he is a huge fan to spandex full-body suits." Plus, he has strong commitments on crime, affordable education, universal healthcare, and sustainable public transportation.
Check him out at www.votespidey.com, and vote on July 10!
Yeah, NOI! :-)
