In just over three months the LGBT community and its allies in Maine will face one of its toughest fights ever. And, they need our help. Here are three things you can do to help preserve marriage equality in Maine:
- Take the pledge to Protect Maine Equality. The No on is working hard to get 5,000 new supporters by Labor Day. This is a simple and easy way for you to show your support. After you've signed the pledge to Protect Maine Equality, please encourage friends and family to do so as well.
- Donate to Protect Maine Equality. The Bilerico team has set a goal of raising $5,000 from the Bilerico family to support our friends in Maine. We've set up an Act Blue page where you can contribute to Protect Maine Equality. Your contribution will go a long way towards helping the campaign hire organizers told identify marriage equality supporters and ensure that they vote No on 1.
- Spend your vacation volunteering to Protect Maine Equality. The opponents of equality in Maine are raising lots of cash from outside the state. In order for us to win we need to build an amazing people-powered movement committed to engaging in conversations with voters across the state. During the month leading up to the election, the campaign will be hosting a team of highly motivated volunteers to serve as full-time, volunteer campaign staff. In Maine voters begin casting their ballots in October, so the campaign is planning the Volunteer Vacation to run during the entire month of October.
We can win in Maine if we all pitch in to help! Please leave a comment letting us know how you are going to help.
