This sad report about Broward County gay deputy Jonathan Bleiweiss leaves me unsure about what to believe.
You should read the report in the Sun-Sentinel.
You should also read the article about Officer Bleiweiss in the South Florida Blade.
You should read all ten pages of the affidavit.
Drawing the wrong conclusions in this matter is an easy possibility. It is conceivable that the alleged victims knew the officer was gay, resented him for stopping them routinely and concocted the charges against him as retribution. Or, it is possible that the officer really did abuse his position, knowing that his alleged victims would be easy targets. The cell phone records lead me to believe that Bleiweiss is guilty but do not preclude the possibility that he was set up. I am guessing that short of a confession from the officer himself, or the production of what his attorney is calling "physical evidence", we will never be sure who to believe. I'll be following this closely.
