I'm not smiling at the misfortune of the fundies. Really, I'm not.

baby-crying.jpgThe good folks over at Amplify got a pleading letter from Focus on the Fundraising... er... "Focus on the Family" whining about the hard economic times and what looks to be a 6 Million Dollar budget shortfall:

Right now we're facing a serious budget shortfall that threatens our ability to reach out to parents, families and married couples who count on our help. Income is down nearly $6 million from what we expected and planned for this year.

I'm shedding a tear...

Over at Pam's House Blend, Lureleen pointed out that FOTF has taken to some pretty drastic (and comical) measures to keep up their righteous intrusion into people's private lives to keep harping on the evils of the gays, women's choice, and anything not straight from the fetid mouth of James Dobson:

actually, they had people do yard sales this summer and send them the proceeds. no kidding.

Wow.

Maybe if they didn't spend so much money on anti-LGBT ballot initiatives or lining the pockets of their founder and board (I wonder what verse in the Bible that comes from), they wouldn't be in such a pickle. They have thrown multi-millions into every ballot battle across the country- from California's Prop 8 to Florida's Amendment 2. Forgive me if I do a happy dance at their money woes.

I'll be sure to keep them in my prayers...

Waymon, you are the very definition of schadenfreude ... and Good For You!

I think we should start collecting and sending FOTF those little metallic seals that we peel off the tops of new bottles of Astro-Glide ...

P.S. ... as well as our empty condom wrappers.

Your post made my day. I am so happy to hear this.

I'm not smiling either, because it is very hard to smile when laughing your ass off.

I like how he picks up a water gun and says, "The boys will want me to keep this." I wouldn't expect FOTF to have a gender-neutral yard sale.

Karma, or maybe God is sayind stop abusing my good name

I work very hard not to gloat over someone else's hardships. As a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, that would not be behavior not at all becoming. However, I've never really appreciated, nor condoned, sanctioned or found blessing in the efforts (notice I don't use the word "ministry") of FOTF. For all the obvious reasons. Bigotry being the sin that it is. Now, if FOTF would start supporting GLBTQ families with their hard-earned megabuck treasury, that would be something else again. But something would probably freeze over before that happened. Thanks ever so for the prompt. PastorJim

Rev Jim,
I see that you are on the right track with this. For years, FOTF has put a lot of effort into vilifing LGBT people, not following the teachings of Christ. (People need a Red Letter edition of the Bible.) Those of us who are old enough are also aware that "What comes around, goes around" (karma) is an honest-to-goodness fact of life. I've seen it. I know that hateful people will get their come-upins, and in some cases may have gotten it and we may never know.

But, as much as it may delight us to see these hateful people suffer, we cannot act like them and gloat over their misfortune. We would be no better than them, and I refuse to laugh at their problems. They brought it upon themselves, and we just continue doing the good we are doing for our respective communities. That is our karma.

Folks, (I always address our LGBT community as Folks) with the impending doom and destruction of FOTF I hate to dash your hopes that the fundies at FOTF is running out of ready cash. For Tax purposes a Non-Profit is allowed to have 3 full years of expected expenses in the bank as a reserve. They are not out of cash.

What I really and firmly believe is that the president of the organization and it's board of directors simply want more money from the more than stupid and oh so willing to be fleeced sheep in their flock and getting it requires the flow of a "River of Tears". A garage sale of support give me a break.

As with the American Red Cross in areas of local disasters the office manager makes a cut on every donation and it seems that this is highly likely the case here for hate has not shame. Besides they see an expensive campaign ahead of this hate group for trying to derail initiatives in the New England States, Iowa, New York, California, and Washington for our equal civil rights. So go ahead FOTF and cry me a river or two of your "Oh whoa is me tears of impending doom and disaster", and of course their sheep will without a doubt jump into the sea of Piranha's to earnestly paddle upstream against the current to keep up the rant against the LGBT community. I hate to dash cold water on the laughter but this is simply a case of us being very short sighted and as in the Miltary of which this Queer Queen served before and after Vietnam and Desert Storm getting all the "NUKIE" I wanted including while on duty but still doing my work getting ARCOM (Army Commendation Medal) after ARCOM of appreciation and devotion during that time. So without saying as much we might just be a possible sheet short of our own reality. Not to offend you Waymon H. I really enjoy our private conversations on "Things like that there". They won't go away they love the amount of hate that we seem to muster into their ho hum monotonous kick the kids and beat the wife (or husband) lives. While they wake up each morning and smack direction into the wall of reality themselves. FOTF has found its Midas Touch and they will milk it dry praying on the insipid stupidity of their oh so unfocused adoring minions. Bye the Bye nice pic Waym.

For background, alot of Lesbian and Gay couples
are raising children in loving caring families.
The LGBT community is not a threat to marriage,
families or children.

It has always been shocking to me that in this time when so many families are feeling the negative effects of the economy, we have a variety of groups that are raising and spending money for anti-Gay
causes. Just think what they money they raised and have spent would have done if spent on issues that directed affected children and families instead of on raw hate.

The budget shortfall is causing them to get rid of their Love Won Out conferences where they try to convert us. Too bad Exodus International still has money:
