It looks like the No on 1 Campaign in Maine learned a lot of the right lessons from the No on 8 Campaign in California 2008. Here's an ad that responds to the silly, poorly-produced rightwing "Perfesser" ad against same-sex marriage, and they have it out two days after the rightwing ad first appeared (I put the ad after the jump). In California, it took about two weeks (if YouTube upload dates are the same as when the ads were put on the air) to respond to the schools/children bogeyman.
They even got the 2005 Teacher of the Year to deliver the basic message: it's about teaching respect for others (and self, since some of those kids reading King & King are queer themselves), not about trying to turn your kid gay.
(Also, if you think that keeping marriage in Maine is important and want to get this ad on the air more, consider donated to our ActBlue page to help the folks in Maine out. Ad buys are relatively cheap there, and a small donation can go a long way.)
