Just as everyone returns home to settle down from the National Equality March in Washington D.C., Indy spices up the rainy days with fall flavor, turning out several events this week to keep everyone busy, busy, busy.
Fashion capitols of the world; Paris, Milan, New York, Tokyo...Indianapolis? Yes, it's true. Starting on Wednesday and ending on Saturday night, Midwest Fashion Week will invade downtown Indianapolis, showing everyone in our small corner, that yes, we too have style! And according to the lineup of amazing talent, tons of it. Last week when I spoke with Berny Martin, founder and a presenting designer at the event, he was excited about Alex and I attending the week's events and stated that he wanted to showcase the local midwest talent in Indiana and it's surrounding area, exhibiting that there is definite style, creativity and fashion trend in Indianapolis waiting to explode! We're extremely excited about going and encourage anyone interested to come and support the local artists and be a part of the fashion industry, instead of just viewing it on Project Runway from your couch! For more information, visit the Midwest Fashion Week website.
On Saturday, October 17th, The Miss Gay Bloomington Pageant will return after having been dormant for several years. The new owner and promoter, Vicci Laine, has stated she is excited about the new venture and hopes it is extremely successful. When I contacted Vicci, she said she wanted to "produce pageants that will be directly charity driven to benefit local ASO's (Aids Service Organizations). My mission is to find as many opportunities to raise money as I can to help Aids care coordinates do a great job helping their clients." Vicci is also the founder of Change4Change, an organization which supports smaller ASO's. Good luck Vicci! We wish you all the best lady! For more information on the pageant, please visit the MGB Pageantry website!
If you can't get your fill of drag pageants with Miss Gay Bloomington, the final night of The Miss Gay USA at Large pageant, starring Tajma Hall, will be at Talbott Street on Friday, October 16th, with prelims occurring the two previous nights.
On Saturday night, join SEXY porn stars Josh Griffin and Jeremy Bilding at Talbott Street's "Strap on Your Leather" party! Alex and I have been talking to both stars this last week and both are excited about coming to Indianapolis for the party. Watch later in the week for an interview with both! Admission is $7. For more information on either event at Talbott Street, visit their website.
We wish we had more exciting gossip for you right now, but all you gays in Indy are far too tame for us right now! Maybe it's fall, maybe it's everyone coming together to come out for National Coming Out Day, we don't know, but we're ready to report on some real deal action! We do love being a part of the Bilerico family and it is so exciting to get noticed almost everywhere we go...just whisper in our ear and give us some juice to write about!
We would like to extend a thank you to a few "gossip cats" wondering the streets downtown. We just recently realized we had been referred to in one of your pathetic paws, so to speak. Well, obviously you think our bite is worse than our bark since you didn't call us out by name. We love to be named and have been taught by our mentor that bad talk is better than no talk at all...but we're the nice guys, right? Hmmmmm...we appreciate the nod and think it's absolutely purrlicious! Meow...
