Should anyone doubt my taking seriously my responsibilities to deliver the complete Key West picture, please know that I broke away from our poolside group here at the all-male clothing-optional Island House resort to greet the ladies of the Olivia Tour that docked in Key West today.
Watch the video that follows for the sweet interview with two ladies from Sacramento celebrating their first anniversary. They met through their kids.
PS: I am soooooo loving Key West.
More to come. Key West is fantastic.

So what's the main difference between being in one Southern Florida city and another? Ft. Lauderdale isn't exactly Minneapolis...

Key West is only nominally part of Florida -- they even declared themselves a republic once.
From an outsider's point of view (I'm not from Florida), Florida starts about the most LGBT friendly place one can imagine in Key West, and then slowly gets *worse* as you move north.
Key West *is* fantastic. One of my favorite places in the world.

Years back, Key West could not get federal funding for some serious maintenance of its aging infrastructure. Frustrated after years of begging for money, the mayor of Key West held a press conference in which he seceded from the Union, declared war on the U.S., unconditionally surrendered, and asked for foreign aid. I understand he got his funding within the year.
Yeah, Key West is different—in the most delightful way.
