Remember when being "Generation X" was equivalent to being young and cutting edge? Well, then, indulge me in some early 90's nostalgia with Bob Mould, who you may remember from the bands Sugar and Hüsker Dü.

When I was a young'n (15) running around Minneapolis in the late 80s, I sort of hated Bob Mould and Grant Hart for being in the closet while I and others I knew were taking all the heat. I always thought the lyrics from Zen Arcade could have been retitled 'Screams from the Closet'.
Later on, Bob Mould's 90s interviews where he dissed out gay people for putting it in everyone's faces did not endear him to me any more.
Recently I've found it strange that he's decided to become a super-gay and throw these lame-ass bear circuit parties. It's so un-punk, and it's the worst kind of consumer -gay.
But alas, my heart softened. He was in Husker Du. I saw him on the street in SF about a month ago when I was drunk, and I was like "Hey Baby!" and he turned and smiled and waved. And all was right in the rock and roll universe once more.
