I would stay, even though I've been with my partner for almost 14 years and we are both HIV negative. I had one partner I was with for 5 years and we didn't have sex untill after 3 months. He was afraid to tell me, but I've always had safer sex. There were times when the medical problems were a lot to deal with, but it didn't matter to me. I don't think it ever would. Real love stays regardless of health issues..at least for me. Although its hard for some to be with an HIV positive person, I think its much harder if that person cheated and got it after getting together. Still, fear and stigma is a strong thing. My only advice is for everyone to get tested and protect themselves and others, always.

Thank you, Stone, for your story. Your arguments are strong on so many levels. I wonder how many have faced all that you have.

Yours is similar to one I read last year, from a blogger name Saint Lewis. He stayed, and the end of the story is one that no one expected. (Please read the links in the post to get the whole account.)

Bil- I'd love to hear more of this story.

Betty,

I read the blogger Saint Lewis and, if his was a true story, his partner would be a medical miracle or the partner would have a whale of a medical malpractice suit. I personally an cynical and believe it is well-written fiction.
