"Obviously the real difference is that I'm a gay dude. You know what I mean? And I'm not a woman 'feigning' lesbianism. I think it got a little too real for people, maybe. And also I think, in that moment, the lyrics of the song are sexual in nature - it has a double meaning - I'm gonna put on a show. I'm gonna give it to you, but the double meaning is I'm gonna hold you down and give it to you."

-- Singer Adam Lambert to Fuse's On The Record show about the recent controversy about his American Music Awards performance.

Although I am by no means a prude when it comes to stage performances, after some careful thought I do believe that, purely for PR purposes, performers such as Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake or Adam Lambert need to keep in mind whether they are being televised on broadcast networks or over cable/satellite.

The cable/satellite viewers mostly know what they sign up for when they subscribe to cable, and in any event they can vote with their checkbooks. But with free-over-airwave broadcasts, the only recourse viewers have is complaining to the FCC, and that could hurt us in the long run.

It is a lot more important to keep an eye on the GOP and the Blue Dogs, than to worry about Adam Lambert
