Don't know anything about this pre-1920 photo other than it is fabulous. Like so much of women's history, the story of female baseball teams is almost forgotten.

According to the Ken Burns/PBS documentary, "Baseball" many women's colleges formed baseball teams in the late 19th and early 20th centuries until the moralists decried the "violence" of the game as being unfit for women. This could be one of those teams.

I wish their team name was on the jerseys. That would help us!
