Looks like someone need a little practice on the interview portion of the pageant...
Miss Faux Beverly Hills Lauren Ashley has hired publicist and is ready to talk to the media to "clarify" her statements that gays should be killed. She may want to reconsider that:
The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.' The Bible is pretty black and white. I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone. If he says that having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you, that's a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life.
That isn't really the issue. I have a lot of friends that are gay, and ... I have a lot of friends who have different views, and we share our views together.

Like I said before- stop using trans as an insult. Saying "she looks trans" as a cut down is stupid and small-minded. It is not acceptable and I am tired of it.
^Waymon, thanks for the (sad) story and for not tolerating transphobic putdowns. I do think it's hilarious how people from Beverly Hills think it's insulting that she was really from... ugh, Pasadena! But then, I wouldn't want Ms. Faux BH representing my community, either.
I wonder if maybe there's a strong evangelical undercurrent in the pageant world. Or maybe we're just more aware of it because of high profile queens like Anita Bryant, Carrie Prejean, and their ilk...
I do want to give props to a local one that didn't turn out that way. Nancy Anne Fleming (Miss America winner 1961 from Michigan) was a long time tv host in the Bay Area (and married to Jim Lange--from the original Dating Game). Around the time of the Anita Bryant foulness (and remember, Anita was not a Miss America-she was a second runner up) Nancy proudly rode in the SF Pride Parade. I remember the sign on her car saying something like, "we have a real Miss America". Yaaay.
Hunger Games 2 comes out soon and I can't wait. I've read the series of books (and shared it with a few folks via Kindle!). How many of you are excited to see it come out?

I absolutely love the way she totally pauses on the "can they be gay and christian?" question.
I swear I saw smoke rising from her nose as the synapse burned out...
She looks like a young, MTF Danny Bonaduce.

Knock it off.

I thought the Pasadena/Bev Hills thing was funny too. I guess there are cross-town rivalries everywhere. :)
Going back to Anita Bryant -- isn't it interesting that so many conservative beauty queens have turned out to be so bloodthirsty against gays?

That's some great history, Gina! I never knew that! Thanks!
A friend I have know since my childhood is a former Beauty Queen and a former highly price fashion model, she is extremely pro-Gay.
