Hey gang,

We've had quite a few complaints about the level of discourse lately in the comment sections. We've had a huge influx of new readers lately and while commenters only make up about 3% of all Projectors, they influence the site's tone. Play nice.

Under each post it specifically says:

While arguing about an opinion or idea is encouraged, personal attacks will not be tolerated. Please be respectful of others.

The editorial team will delete a comment that is off-topic, abusive, exceptionally incoherent, includes a slur or is soliciting and/or advertising.

Keep it civil and knock off all the personal attacks. That's not how we do things around here. There's a difference between, "Your idea is stupid" and "You're stupid for saying that." Name calling is always forbidden.

Keep in mind that this is our online home and if you're rude to other guests, we're gonna toss you out on your (r)ear. We've built a welcoming community of friends and family here. Let's keep it that way.

I just want to say that Sean Martin's recent column is absolutely accurate, and I feel so strongly for those who have to go through what he's talking about.

Thank you, ma'am. That's much appreciated.

Wait a minute! let me turn up my hearing aids.

Okay, Hear what?

Well, I'll be !$#&**% And you're an %^$#@*! Don't forget $%@!#*&

There! I got that off my chest. We now return you to your regularly scheduled comment section.

I've been called worse.

Good-bye, all.

Quoting Barney Frank calling something "stupid" would be okay, right?

Bil, as an occasional reader and rare commenter, thank you. It's time we all started to treat each other as if we were face to face, instead of using the anonymity of the Internet to be rude and hurtful.

Different viewpoints are healthy discussion. Name calling has no value.

It happens every time there's an influx of new people, amirite?
