You want equality? Well, equality costs and New Organizing Institute's LGBT BootCamp is where you start paying in sweat!

Okay, leaving aside the somewhat cheesy reference to the 70's TV show Fame, winning full LGBT equality is going to take a lot of work and a lot of smart and passionate people doing that work. And, while people with their hearts in the right place are a good thing, people passionate about equality with the necessary skills to make equality a reality are even better.

That's why the New Organizing Institute, in partnership with the Gill Foundation is holding LGBT BootCamp, an intensive, six-day new media training to strengthen LGBT activists skills in integrating cutting-edge online organizing techniques, political technology, and field leadership.

From the NOI website:

LGBT BootCamp will place trainees in workshops with the best progressive organizers in the country during the day, and on teams for campaign simulation exercises during the evening. Trainees will master skills for crafting online campaigns, experimenting with everything from email calendars to metrics and testing. Through NOI's campaign simulation, trainees will have a chance to practice and refine their work with mentorship from some of the most experienced online organizers in the progressive movement. NOI is looking for LGBT activists and allies, employed or in transition, all ready to take a stand for equality in 2010.

I am an alumni of BootCamp 2009 and I can tell you it's an amazing program. The training sessions were top notch and my fellow BootCamp are making progressive change happen around a range of issues.

Applications are due May 31 and if you are accepted the program is all-expenses paid.

Apply for LGBT BootCamp today!

This bootcamp sounds fantastic not only do you get the opportunity to meet other people who share your experience and you meet like minded people you also get the opportunity to learn more about equality. I have worked in this field for many years and have never stoped learning about it. You are right it is great when you get facilitators who know what they are doing and can change mindsets as well.
