Indiana congressional candidate Trent Van Haaften was added to the DCCC's "Red to Blue" program on Monday. The list of priority candidates is traditionally meant to flip Republican held seats to Democrat control.
Van Haaften, however, isn't running to replace a Republican. He's the new candidate replacing conservative Democrat Brad Ellsworth on the ballot now that Ellsworth is the Senate candidate to replace retiring Senator Evan Bayh.
So when I talk about the lack of progressive love for Ellsworth's candidacy and his stances in exact opposite to the party platform, apparently the party has not only managed to excuse Ellsworth's votes but to make money off of them.
The jokes almost write themselves, I tell you. Sadly, Indiana Democrats are the laughing stock.
