White House plans closeted Pride reception

It's secret after the Pride reception (cocktails with senior staff to remember a riot!) caused controversy last year, but Kerry Eleveld has the anonymous sources:

Anonymous sources have confirmed that a reception to commemorate Gay Pride Month will be held at the White House next Tuesday, June 22, at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Details of the event -- such as how large it will be, who has been invited, and whether President Barack Obama will attend or speak -- are not clear. White House officials declined to comment.

Who's going? Chely Wright tweeted that she's been invited to the White House, but didn't say why. This may be the closeted Pride reception that only anonymous sources will talk about, but we're queer. The one thing we can't do is keep a secret, especially after two or three glasses of champagne! Those gays, so fun and noncontroversial!

I'll post about who was there after it lets out next Tuesday, along with scans of all the celeb autographs I plan on collecting. And Rahm had better lock up the restrooms before we show up, because you know how those gays are, what with God being in neither the mix nor the bathroom stall....

Unfortunately, my invitation seems to have been lost in the mail. Could a White House representative please email me so we can work this out?

Probably safe to assume that the head of the HRC will be there, in a new party outfit. Maybe you could go as his date? ::wink::

Wait - maybe I'm out of the loop with queer media on this one, but the reception is a secret? I've been getting regular press releases from the White House about it and know of at least 8 people who got an invite. That's not a very well kept secret.

Alex, my invite seems to have gotten lost in the mail as well.
