After seeing so many breathless missives I've become inured to the bleatings and lies of the religious right, but this fundie action alert takes the crazy to a whole new level. The Citizens for Community Values of Indiana has taken up arms against a proposed human rights ordinance in South Bend that would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of protected classes.

notjesus.pngIn a desperate screed meant to scare evangelical conservatives, the group not only condemns gay and lesbians, but also calls other churches that support the ordinance "purveyors of counterfeit theology." The group even resorts to quoting unrelated Bible verses to try and prove that Jesus "spoke on this issue" and "clearly condemned" homosexuality; he didn't.

The group goes so far as to argue that transgender people "should specifically not be hired" and that married couples with children shouldn't be "forced" to live next door to a gay couple. They continue with a bunch of "facts" that a basic Google search can prove is false, but how many of the sheeple will suddenly decide to think for themselves?

Conveniently, the group lists the e-mail addresses and phone numbers for city councilors and gives you the e-mail address to send letters to the editor of the South Bend Tribune. After all, you can see what they're up against and the last time the ordinance came up for a vote, the fundies won by one vote. Their e-blast is after the jump.

Taking advantage of the high profile Obama Administration Push for the Homosexual Agenda, radical GLBT activists are back to try to push their agenda once again in the middle of summer when many families are on vacation. They have the support of the Mayor but not of the people and have not been able to win the support of the Council. They claim a majority this time, so we are taking nothing for granted.

We cannot afford to let down our guard in the Heartland. Please take action now!

Key Action Items:

1) Pray & Contact each of the members of the Council. We need hundreds of emails and calls and letters to pour into the Council before the Hearing respectfully urging them to "lovingly oppose the special rights for homosexuals, bisexuals and transgendereds, agenda" in the bill now before the Council.

2) The Hearing is set for Monday July 26, 2010 in the Council Chambers on the 4th Floor of the County City Building at the corner of Lafayette and Jefferson in South Bend. In order to get seats inside the chamber we will need to begin gathering at 3:00 p.m. several hours before the meeting. Bring a book and pray before the meeting. The last time the Hearing went on until Midnight and we won by just one vote! We must be more hungry and thirsty for righteousness that they are for legitimizing aberrant sexual behavior!

3) Submit a Voice of the People to the South Bend Tribune expressing your opposition to the bill. You may mail letters to: Voice of the People, The South Bend Tribune, 225 W. Colfax Ave., South Bend IN 46626 or email them to vop@sbtinfo.com. You may also fax them to (574) 236-1765. Please also send or fax a copy to CCV at (574) 247- 9299 so that we know whether or not your submission has been published. CCV of Indiana, PO Box 8293, South Bend, IN 46660

Facts you should know:

There is a so-called religious exemption in this new bill which we have been advised is a Trojan Horse that will not offer the protection that is really needed for churches and Faith based schools and day cares.

But it offers no protection for every faith-inspired property owner and business owner!

Unbelievers and purveyors of counterfeit theology should not be allowed to tell Christians how to be Christian. We should look to Jesus:

Activists have claimed that these are not special rights but civil rights or human rights.

We have reminded everyone that when you grant a special status in the law based only on a person's chosen sexual behavior it absolutely confers special rights.

SPECIAL STATUS = SPECIAL RIGHTS.

SPECIAL RIGHTS UNDERMINE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.

SPECIAL RIGHTS ARE NOT CIVIL RIGHTS.

SPECIAL RIGHTS ARE NOT HUMAN RIGHTS.

We love all of those who are struggling with the temptation of same-sex attraction. And want them to get help and be free of their struggles. Jesus is our model in dealing with sexual sin. He told the woman caught in adultery "I do not condemn you. Go and sin no more!"

As Believers we should be quick to offer the promise of forgiveness to all who are willing to repent. This is the love we are called to. We are called to love people but hate the sin. We can do no less if we are to truly be like Him. We are never called to affirm behavior that is called sin by the Bible.

Jesus never affirmed sin as ok and we must not either. The practice of homosexuality is clearly condemned in the Old Testament and in the New Testament! Jesus himself even makes reference to the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Gospel! Don't listen to the false claim that Jesus never spoke on this issue! (Matthew 11 & Luke 17)

This is not an "orientation". We must 'lovingly oppose the homosexual agenda" and help those struggling with this form of sexual temptation and sin to find freedom in Christ as many former homosexuals have. While the temptation is not a choice, the decision to act on it is!

We are rejecting their behavior as unhealthy, unsafe and unholy. We are not rejecting them. This is a false proposition that GLBT activists set up: If you reject what I do then you reject who I am. Our identity is that we were made in the image and likeness of God. We love the person and reject the bad behavior as wrong. It is the same way we love our children every day!

It is not loving to affirm a behavior that leads in many cases to an early death through HIV Aids and a 4,000% higher chance of contracting anal cancer.

It is not loving to affirm a behavior that often leads to violent sexual behavior, a higher rate of domestic violence and higher rates of drug and alcohol abuse, and yes sadly even to higher rates of suicide due to all these other problems in combination.

A man with the 'perceived gender identity' of a woman who wears a dress and wants to use the same lady's restroom at the Mall at the same time that my minor daughters use it, is an unacceptable and unsafe form of public policy in action. That same man in a dress will not be a good marketer for any business with a traditional customer base and should specifically not be hired because they want to wear a dress. A married couple of faith with minor children who buy a duplex should not be forced to share life up close and personal with a homosexual couple displaying public affection in front of their minor children.

The Constitution guarantees the freedom to assemble with those we want to. It in no way allows a vocal micro-minority to force the rest of the population to accept their aberrant sexual behavior as normal or healthy.

If this is passed they always want to do sensitivity education in the schools to promote homosexual behavior as normal and healthy. A victory in the Council now is a victory to protect our school children from pro-homosexual propaganda later!

What they seek is a special status in the law to establish special rights that undermine the legitimate constitutional rights of the rest of society to disagree with their behavior.

Please Urge the Council to vote no.

It's funny, while scouring the Bible for obscure, incorrect quotes and connections, that they never ran across anything related to 'bearing false witness'. But then, in my experience, religious conservatives are constituitive hypocrites...

Carol, they seem to have overlooked a lot of Scripture that refers to self-righteosness ("Judge Not", "He who is without sin, let HIM cast the first stone"). My favorite is Ecclesiastes 7:16, which admonishes us to not be "overly righteous, or overly wise; why destroy yourselves?"

Sadly, many gay-Christians still sit in their churches.

Why can't I write my local lawmaker to protect me from the terminally stupid? Do they actually think I'm going through an exceptionally difficult process of hrt, surgery and life upheaval just so I can wear a dress and go potty with their daughters? Really? I don't even like dresses...

I realize that race and sexual orientation are two different things, and we should be careful when drawing analogies. Even so, if you change the gay/trans references to black (and change the Bible refs also), this could have been a flyer written by a liberal-leaning Southerner shortly after the Civil War, justifying the Jim Crow era that was soon to come: "We must love our black brothers and sisters --- just don't make us live next to them, work next to them, educate their children as well as we educate ours, compete against them for anything, or let them make as much money as we do. Love, love, love ..." Yeah, right.

We need to set up a hall of fame for crazy fundie screeds. This needs to be immortalized in a "the batshittiest of the batshitty" list or something.

Seriously. I can see the foam at the corners of his lip!

Oh, my. Do they really expect me to accept the procreative behavior of heterosexuals that has led to massive overpopulation and starvation on this wonderful earth that God created? Should I be exposed to all the horrific advertising for heterosexual sex on television and in every form of media? The Bible requires that we stone to death any woman who is not a virgin on her wedding night. Why is this not the law of the land? I love heterosexuals as people but they need to repent from eating oysters, crab and other shellfish.

It is not loving to affirm a behavior that leads in many cases to an early death through poverty stricken single mothers and lack of universal health care.

It is not loving to affirm a behavior that often leads to violent sexual behavior, a higher rate of domestic violence and higher rates of drug and alcohol abuse, and yes sadly even to higher rates of suicide due to all these other problems in combination. Sexual intercourse should be illegal unless the heterosexuals are fully capable of caring for their children both financially and emotionally.

A woman who wears pants and wants to use the same lady's restroom at the Mall at the same time that my minor daughters use it, is an unacceptable and unsafe form of public policy in action. That same woman in pants will not be a good marketer for any business with a traditional customer base and should specifically not be hired because they want to wear pants. A married homosexual couple of faith with minor children who buy a duplex should not be forced to share life up close and personal with a heterosexual couple displaying public affection in front of their minor children.

The Constitution guarantees the freedom to assemble with those we want to. It in no way allows heterosexuals to force the rest of the population to accept their aberrant sexual behavior as normal or healthy.

Heterosexuals always want to do sensitivity education in the schools to promote heterosexual behavior as normal and healthy.

What they have is a special status in the law that establishes special rights that undermine the legitimate constitutional rights of the rest of society to disagree with their behavior.

Please Urge the Council to remove the special rights of heterosexuals. Urge them to prohibit divorce except in the case of adultery and to require adulterers to be stoned to death as the Bible requires.

Homosexual Agenda? I didn't get the memo. The only ones with an agenda that I know of are those racist tea-baggers and all the other Wing Nuts currently calling the shots in the Republican Party.

Wow, "a 4,000% higher chance of contracting anal cancer." Why stop there, just go all Dragonball Z with it and say it like it is..."OVER 9000!!!!"

Wait... I'm confused.

How does this e-mail qualify as one of the most deranged? It seems depressingly run-of-the-mill to me.
