I know I usually post videos for Sunday Funnies, but the thing that made me giggle the most this week were pictures of the counter-protesters against Westboro Baptist Church at San Diego's Comic Con. You can check out my original post to see Westboro's lame "God Hates Nerds" signs, but these comic nerds took counter-protest and hilarity to a whole new level. Plus, it was another reason for them to dress up in tights, something I can totally get behind and support...

This is why I'm a proud gay geek! And I need this shirt...

For our Star Wars fans:

The X-men (comics most gay allegorical tale) were represented:

Obviously, God loves nerds, because there are so many of us:

And my personal favorite:

And my psych couldn't understand why I'm proud to be a geek...

I had two favorite counter-protest signs. The most favorite read "Jesus was nailed to a cross. Thor has a hammer" and my second favorite read "ODIN IS GOD. Read 'Mighty Thor' #5".

If I were there my sign would have read
"God Hates Red Shirts"

is it not written, that crewman #6 of the security detail will die a horrible and painful death within the first 3 minutes of any episode of Star Trek?

Can someone enlighten me? Why would WBC show up at ComicCon in the first place?
That doesn't seem like their kind of gathering.

WBC has recently taken to vilifying those who read comic books. Their claim is that "God hates nerds" because nerds (supposedly) idolize comic book heroes.

Make no mistake, anything WBC protests it always has something to do with gays.

In the Bible, idol worship and homosexuality often go hand in hand.

I liked the "kill all humans" sign one person had. Really beats out "God hates fags."

Phred's Phamily hates anything and everything that simulates thought or runs counter to their faith based racist, anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, transphobic and homophobic views.

Goota love the Comic Con peeps...They rock...

And now it's time for me to head to Nan's and pick pick up my latest issue of Archie Comics. ;)

OMG...! Thanks Jenny!

I grieve for the little ones in the Phelps prison.
The kids can't read comics. Learn about heroes and courage.
How. Cruel.
