What better way to start the week than giving Projectors a chance to win a boy? No, not a living and breathing twink (or a dead and not-breathing one, for that matter), but one of three copies of the subtitled gayFilipinoboy.jpgFilipino flick, Boy.

Brand new from Auraeus Solito, director of The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros, Boy is a delightful, sexy, romantic coming-of-age story about a young poet in Manila who discovers his sexuality and falls for a macho dancer. What begins as an erotic fascination turns into a beautiful personal journey about family and self-expression.

I've seen this movie and I really liked it. The story was well-written and the acting was a cut above your usual American gay movie. I wasn't a fan of the ending, but I'd definitely watch it again. Don't know it? There's a trailer after the jump.

If you'd like to win a copy of Boy, just leave a comment on this post and tell us what your favorite queer movie is. The contest will close at midnight Pacific on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. You can only enter once and Bilerico bloggers are not eligible to win. Good luck!

Yeah, I'd like to see this film. My favorite queer films are Farewell My Concubine, Red Dirt, and Hamam.

OOOOH, Red Dirt. So much feelings.

I'm not a drama guy. I much prefer comedies. I'm also quite over those Southern Gothic coming out and feeling so conflicted, love-to-hate-to-love-to-hate-to-love movies where people spend so much time weeping and in agony... I feel like its been done.

By the same token, I feel like this wouldn't be all that far away from that genre.

You know what recent gay movie rocked? The Kids are Alright. good movie.

Is Julianne Moore going for gay icon status or something? How many gay and gay-ish movies is she going to do this year? Kids, Single Man, Chloe?

Ok, call me a contest whore: I'm in.

I love gay theme movies, something with a touch of panache. Beautiful Thing, Touch of Pink, Love and Human Remains, Big Eden, Angels in America, Were the World Mine, and so forth.

Never let it be said, however, that I dwell exclusively in the gay movie ghetto. I did watch Bette Davis in Now, Voyager last week.

:D

Favorite LGBT movie: "Milk"

Favorite queer movie? Probably going to have to go with Mysterious Skin, though A Single Man is definitely up there too.

Milk was great, as was Kids are Alright. I think my fav in the last few years, tho, was Were the World Mine.

I'd have to say my favorite queer movie is "Bound," because it's a sexy neo-noir crime thriller that happens to have lesbians in it, who also happen to be the main characters. There isn't this big typical struggle to deal with the fact that someone's gay, which is refreshing for a change.

I'd be ecstatic if I won, though, because I plan on putting this film in my campus's LGBT resource center.

I remember the first time I watched Get Real. That was the movie that made me realize I had to come out. For that reason, that will always be my top gay movie.

However, this movie looks good, so count me in.

My favorite queer movie is definitely "Les Chansons d'Amour" ("Love Songs"). I also love "Were the World Mine". I swear it's only a coincidence that those are both musicals.

MY FAVORITE GAY FILM IS BOY,I ENJOY IT BECAUSE THE FOREIGN FILMS ARE NOT AFRAID. TO TAKE,CHANCES AND RISK.LIFE AMERICAN FILMS. THIS FILM IS WELL DONE. IT HAS TWO DIFFERENT. GUYS AND THE WAY THEY MEET AND THE DIFFERENT LIFESTYLES. THEY LEAD,AND THE CUTE WAY THEY GET TOGETHER,FOR A NIGHT OF SEX,I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE,OF THESE TYPE OF FILMS,COMING OUT IT IS DIRECT AND HAS NO VIOLENCE AND HOMOPHOBIA,IT IS A MOVIE THAT GAYS OF ALL AGES CAN RELATE TO,IN SOME WAY

Favorite gay movie - Hands down "Were the World Mine." Beautifully made and nobody dies or gets raped. Watching it, I wished the fantasy had happened to me.

Favorite US queer film? "Were the World Mine". Favorite foreign? tough- Taxi Zum Klo

OK. It's really hard to pick just one movie, But if I have to,I guess I am truly a romantic at heart and right now my favorite queer movie is "Latter Days".

Let's see, Fingersmith and Tipping the Velvet should get a mention, because they combine my absurd love of costume dramas with some nice female centered stories and steamy lesbian sex scenes.

I also liked Debs, in part because of the look on my sister's face when my action movie went lesbian.

In terms of foreign language films, Iron Ladies is flat out awesome.

My favorites are Another Gay Movie, Guys and Balls (Maenner Wie Wir) and Beautiful Thing.

My all time favorite is My Beautiful Laundrette. Just saw Shelter, which I also really liked.
