I'm not even going to bother to add any editorial comment to this video, except to say that if you haven't yet seen it, you should, and if you want to know something about who your friends really are...one of those friends would be Senator Al Franken.

There's a little more to it that I saw on Rachel's show last night that is worth hearing, as well. It is moving and stirring, and just what I would expect from Al Franken. Finally, a guy who is elected who is just the same once he's in office as he was when running for office.

to me, your last sentence really said it all:

Finally, a guy who is elected who is just the same once he's in office as he was when running for office.

if more democrats were as quick to stand up for what they believe as franken is, the results of elections in a month or so would almost certainly be a lot better...especially the "enthusiasm" part.

it's better to push too hard, lose publicly, and rouse your base as a result of the effort than it is to not try at all, or try with half-measures, and then try to rouse your base at election time.

i'm about to wrote my own campaign speech for those of us who, i guess, have to try to save this thing ourselves...and we'll talk about that fecklessness.
