Why is she even relevant? Hell, I'm more relevant, I'm in a poly relationship with two "trannies." And, no, the word is not appropriate, it is hateful and dehumanizing.

PC-OCD: Political Correctness Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

(Yes, the hyphen moves between the acronym and the full write-out -- I like to be creative that way. You know, as Emerson said, consistency is the hobgoblin of mediocre minds.)

Know what? I agree with Sarandon. ...Don't get me wrong; I agree with GLAAD in principle. Yet I think Sarandon's emotional reaction mirrors a lot of what I'm hearing from straight folks lately.
I keep reading of staight's reactions that seem to follow along the lines of 'I'm tired of hearing the gays always crying about their rights", and "I support gays, but it's getting ridiculous lately", and "What are they nit-picking about now?" It's almost akin to a bunch of angry atheists blacking traffic in the town square to protest school kids singing Christmas carols. To my thinking, despite all the work yet ahead, there have been great strides made in gay rights over the past decade. If we as a subculture start crying wolf over the smaller things, we risk a backlash when it comes to the larger issues by causing burnout and overload in the larger society. I realize that many don't think the tranny reference is 'smaller' and I realize that some will call me out as an apologist, but I would feel the same way if it was one of many 'small things' that didn't involve the trans community. Speaking just for myself; I wish GLAAD would pick their battles a bit more judiciously and give straights a bit more time to catch up with 'our' way of thinking?

Where do I begin....."there have been great strides made in gay rights over the past decade". Really ..have there.. None have included the advancement of trans people. Trans people are not even counted ever!!!, Not in funding, in advocating for equal rights, or when it comes to legislative reform.. let me continue..

"If we as a subculture start crying wolf over the smaller things, we risk a backlash when it comes to the larger issues by causing burnout and overload in the larger society". Smaller things, okay, so the right not to be addressed by a term that is representative of oppression, negativity, anger and disrespect is nothing small. I guess because trans people are not fighting to get married or serve in the military.... the right to simply exist and be acknowledged by something other that a nasty pejorative is a small thing..ok

I resent the fact that you think that being acknowledged is a small thing. If gay people were acceptedly referred to by mainstream society as cock sucking faggots, booty bandits, carpet munchers and the like, would you think that would be acceptable? Do you think it would be innappropriate for GLAAD to get involved? Would you say dont sweat the small things and that we have bigger fish to fry and to just relax... I dont think so...

"I wish GLAAD would pick their battles a bit more judiciously and give straights a bit more time to catch up with 'our' way of thinking?" This is the most ridulous thing I have ever heard.... How much time to straights need..HELLO..i am straight..that notion is utterly ridiculous... As a matter of fact... how much time do you gays need to reallize that you dont speak for trans issues, you cant speak for trans issues and your way of thinking is not inclusive of trans issues OBVIOUSLY... being that marriage equality and DADT are not trans issues I guess trans folk are left out of the political and legislative progression of mainstream, and gay people are solidifying this notion when they perpecuate nonsence like this.

DISCLAIMER:The terms used in this response is not directed to anyone in the LBGT community. They are used as a point of reference.

Im excited that someone took a stand even if it is GLAAD. KUDOS to GLAAD....
Enough of the pejorative terms,

So...bilerico has no comment on this? What's the point of c&p'ing something we can/did read on Joe.My.God?
