The Thanksgiving Turkey...Cake

Because I consider myself a food connoisseur of sorts (I watch Top Chef and Top Chef Just Desserts), please allow me to share with you this holiday confection: Thanksgiving Turkey Cake.

Thumbnail image for Turkey Cake.jpgIt's got ground turkey and mashed potatoes in it. But wait, there's more! Layers of stuffing, cranberry sauce, and sweet potato. And it hasn't forgotten your favorite, because it's topped with marshmallows!

My first reaction was that this looked adorable and I should make it for our Thanksgiving open house, to which my husband screamed something high-pitched and garbled that I think included the words "dead body."

Okay, maybe food isn't supposed to be funny. And the pictures online for building the cake are kind of unappetizing, in that "watch this slaughterhouse footage and never eat meat again" sort of way. So I have opted against it. But please, give it a whirl if you're the adventurous type. You just might be adding me to your gratitude list this Thanksgiving!

I think I am genetically immune to recipes that have more than four steps. No guilt, either. But it IS pretty.

I thought it was a carrot cake from the picture, but when I read the ingredients, OMG! Gag me with a turkey leg!

Sneaking in the Savory disguised as the Sweet... well, that's just WRONG!

Huh. I find I am both triggered and repulsed.

I'm the guilty one that gave Mark this recipe and yes I am thinking of making it... not this year but beware.. one day you will see this on my table..

But it can't be a TOTAL Thanksgiving meal...it doesn't have the cannedgreenbeanmushroomsoupdurkeefrenchfriedonion dish!!!
