This religious-right bigot was just appointed to the Senate (Canada's upper house of second sober thought) making it now a conservative majority. Harpers appointment (by the way he opposed 'appointments' during previous elections) is a blatant slam against the liberal and socially conscience Canadian majority.
God save us from this asshat!
If I recognize that correctly, that was from an interview in Xtra when Meredith was a candidate for or considering candidacy for the Conservative party. At that time, he expressed support for trans rights (Bill C-389) also.
Since then, the Harper government has discovered using the Senate (which has always been a rubber stamp that just looks for any glaring errors) to smack down or modify anything they don't like. Stay tuned.
