I have no idea if this was an unknown amateur, photographed by one friend while hoisting another skyward, or someone who went on to be famous. Either way, he is a most strapping fellow! "Gasp! Ooh! Hunky!" I'm guessing this is from the late 1940s/early 1950s.

The shoes are definitely World War One era. I would say 1915-1920
