Over the weekend I posted on the successful efforts of Congressman Alcee Hastings to increase funding for our nation's crippled AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP) by $42 million.

Below is a video of last Friday's discussion where Hastings' amendment was adopted unanimously by voice vote. While Democrats may no longer be the ruling party in the US House of Representatives, they can still find ways to fight for the people.

Continue after the jump to watch Congressman Hastings' September 23, 2010 floor speech on the ADAP crisis.

I'm so glad they're stepping up and taking care of this mess.

Hastings and Wasserman Schultz have been great on this issue and very engaged. Prior to the last Congress ending, House Democrats under Speaker Pelosi's leadership increased ADAP by $100 million in the omnibus spending bill and sent it to the US Senate.

Advocates were very disappointed when Republicans were successful to kill the omnibus spending bill and effectively destroyed our hope for a solution to the ADAP-crisis.
