Replacing Charlie Sheen

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about one of my odd celebrity crushes. Some of them are not so odd, and then some of them are kind of odd. I’m not sure where this one falls, but it came to mind when I read the latest news in the media industry that the Charlie Sheen implosion has become.

Apparently, on of the actors who may be up for consideration to replace Charlie Sheen on “Two and a Half Men,” is one of my celebrity crushes, heretofore unmentioned.

I’ll let you guess which.

CHARLIE SHEEN - UNEMPLOYED WINNER (MOTIVATIONAL) Pictures, Images and PhotosCharlie Sheen may be one of a kind, but is he irreplaceable?

When Monday’s news broke that the actor, 45, had officially been given the boot from Two and a Half Men, fans of the hit CBS show questioned whether the show would go on - and if so, with which new star?

Producers are reportedly discussing current Parks and Recreation star Rob Lowe. John Stamos’s name also has come up recently. (Both of whom Sheen said he’s fine with replacing him on Dan Patrick’s radio show Wednesday morning.) Or what about Steve Carell, whose run on The Office is nearly up?

Oh heck. I’ll just tell you. It’s Steve Carell. For whatever reason, I find him adorable.

Don’t get me wrong. The other three are plenty easy on the eyes. I wouldn’t necessarily pass either one of them up. But, to me at least, Carell has the winning combination of being handsome and funny. (Sheen, FWIW, is OK with either Stamos or Lowe.)

I don’t watch much network television, actually. In our house, it’s Nickelodeon, the Cartoon Network, or Disney XD until the kids are in bed. Then it’s Discovery ID, A&E, TLC, Bravo, Logo, HGTV, the Cooking Channel or something like that. Sunday is the exception, if there’s a new episode of Depsperate Housewives. And I’ve made an exception for “The Office,” because of Carell. (Where I developed another celebrity crush, on John Krasinski.)

I’ve never watched “Two and a Half Men,” though I’ve kinda had minor odd celebrity crush on Jon Cryer every since Pretty in Pink. (Which may have really been a crush on his character, Duckie, which I then transferred to Cryer.) But if Carell replaces Sheen, I’d tune in.

Unfortunately, that’s unlikely. Carell’s only at 10% in the People Magazine poll, with Stamos at 40%, Lowe at 23%, and “No one. The show cannot go on without Sheen” at 23%.
