Has Uganda's "Kill the Gays" bill finally died in the country's Parliament? Local television reports announced the bill's demise yesterday after the Museveni administration pulled its support. Information Minister Kabakumba Matsiko said in the news report that homosexuality is already covered in other criminal laws, so the legislation is unnecessary. Sponsor David Bahati has vowed to keep pushing the proposed law.

I would of thought David Bahati would have no other option, he must resign his seat in protest in must be Gods will for him to do so. But I guess the morals and faith of Mr Bahati do not stretch as far as losing his salary for something he is so passionate about!

Cautionary note -- Jim Burroway is reporting that a Sexual Offenses Bill is still in motion, the contents of which are not known.

Bahati's objection to that bill is that it's not nearly anti-gay enough, but that doesn't mean it's not already anti-gay. And, surely he will do whatever he can to insert his stuff there.
