Once again, models and not Sailors. The rigging is obviously just a prop.
I don't think that was ever in doubt since riggings like that on ships weren't still in use in the Navy in the 40s.
They are just scrumptious, aren't they? I don't know how authentic the rigging is, and I don't really think that's the point.
That's how I spend my spare time.
