Other than our friend, Josh, no one else from home has visited us in DC. This weekend, though, Jerame got an early birthday gift; his mom came to visit for the weekend.
It's her first trip to the nation's capitol and quite a few other "firsts" too - including the first time on a subway, her first sushi, and her first Salvadorian food so far. We went to a few landmarks and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History yesterday, and today's plans include brunch with friends at the French restaurant that hosted our last DC meetup and a trip to the Cherry Blossom Festival.
I'm actually closer to Jerame's mom than I am with my own, so it's exciting to have her here. It's a welcome little slice of home. Even though we've got a ton of friends in DC and we're always busy anymore, I still get a wee bit homesick occasionally. This ought to tide both Jerame and I over for a while.
