Many anti-gay Christian fundamentalists raptly awaited the rapture today, as discussed here on Bilerico. Screen shot 2011-05-20 at 2.22.51 PM.pngBut since it doesn't seem to have happened, how about we re-brand the Rapture as 'Non-Judgment' Day?

As musician Jane Siberry recently said to Toronto's Globe and Mail,

To me that kind of separatist thinking is not at all what Jesus or other avatars taught. I don't give it any credence. It is the same kind of thinking that is intolerant toward any kind of difference. I'd like to change the term Judgment Day to Non-Separation Day ... no, Non-Judgment Day! That's better! I'm looking forward to when Non-Judgment Day comes.

There's even a facebook page deeming May 22nd 'Non-Judgment' Day, but I say we take back the original day itself.

At the very least, I'll be celebrating a different kind of rapture: my delight for Debbie Harry. "Don't stop, do punk rock!"

Here's what I posted on a friend's Facebook status concerning all this hype:

"From a strictly Biblical perspective, being the half-baked theologian that I am: 'No one knows the day or the hour,' as quoted from Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32. And to quote Penn Jillette, for some fair and balanced reporting on the matter, May 21st is 'BULLSHIT!'

...just sayin'."

Maybe some of these Christians need to re-read the very thing that got their faith started... the motherfucking Gospels! Can I get an "AMEN"?! Or a "Hallelu-Jah!" for God not ending the world?

I thought her name is now Issa. (Jane Siberry not Debbie Harry).

Wouldn't truly anti-gay groups consider "Non-Judgment Day" a sort of apocalypse in its own right? Haha

Harold Camping said that the " Judgment day" Was because of all the LBGTQ's! We need to let him know that he was wrong!!!!!! Tell him to Stop the Hate & Bigotry! No clear sign that he is wrong could have been delivered!!!
