Huffington Post is reporting that NY Governor Cuomo is pushing for a vote on Marriage Equality before the end of the legislative session next week.

With a vote possible by midweek, Governor Andrew Cuomo has summoned elected officials, gay rights advocates and labor groups to the State Capitol building on Monday afternoon for a strategy session on how to pass a marriage equality bill through the New York state senate., reports the New York Times.

The HuffPo article also notes a New York Post article saying that a surprising number of Republicans may be ready to vote in favor, based on a series of secret polls

The last vote went down in flames last year, after legislators who had committed their votes switched sides at the last minute. Will the marriage equality forces have their act together this time around?

Unfortunately, marriage has no shot in NY this session. They can't pass it without GOP votes in the Senate and they don't have any. Same goes for GENDA. Maybe if so-called "pro-LGBT rights advocate" NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg stopped funding the campaigns of those who are adamantly opposed to these bills they'd have a shot, but I can't say I expect that to happen. He can call himself an independent all he wants, but once a right-winger, always a right-winger.
