A Puerto Rican man was found dead alongside a highway in Humacao, a city on the island's eastern coast.

"Primera Hora" reported that the body Ramón "Moncho" Salgado, a 46-year-old gay resident of Humacao "showed signs of blunt trauma."

Thomas J. Bryan Picó, executive director of the organization la Fundación Gaviota, noted that Salgado's murder is the 3rd to take place in the past 72 hours:

On Monday, June 6, a transgender woman was found shot to death in a Santurce intersection. Karlota Gómez Sánchez's body was discovered roughly 48 hours after Alejandro Torres Torres was found stabbed to death in Ponce.

Salgado is the 18th LGBT Puerto Rican who has been murdered on the island over the last year and a half.

With the Puerto Rican government having investigated the murder of Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado as a hate crime back in 2008, it will be interesting to see how the courts proceed with suspects responsible for these recent attacks.
