I think it's good for us to stand in front of straight audiences and point out, not only how our families pressure us into lying, but the US government even requires us by law to lie.

As you pointed out, Nadine, under DOMA, the IRS tries to require us to lie.

There are also situations in which DADT effectively required us to lie. It wasn't supposed to by design, but when a military psychiatrist asks you, "Are you gay?" what are you to say? Replying "That question violates military policy" hardly works in the middle of a counseling session -- and at the same time, it's hardly a non-answer.
