From the department of embarrassing hypocrisy comes a new announcement from GOProud, the beleaguered "gay Republican" organization that's desperately struggling to remain relevant. In a press release today, they named Ann Coulter, the author and TV pundit who just wants the gays to shut up already about equality, as their officially-titled "Honorary Chair and Gay Icon" of GOProud's Advisory Council.
In the press release, the chairman of the GOProud Board, Christopher Barron, explained their choice:
Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud's leadership. Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists - Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.

So correct it warrants being repeated. I concur x 2.
Perhaps they think that by nominating someone anti-gay as the head of a "gay organization", that the republicans will follow their lead and logic and make a gay person the head of their anti-gay political party.
GOPRoud is an Orwellian Newspeak kind of organization. Whatever they say, the opposite is usually true - so their naming of Ann Coulter as their Judy Garland-type mascot must mean that Ann isn't likely to have any singing talent at all (well, that may or may not be true).
It seems to me that we're all waiting for the other shoe to drop. Ann Coulter may one day announce that all this time she's been playing with Poe's Law, and all her rhetoric has just been intended as campy satire.
And, hell may actually freeze over. (If we read our Dante, that may well be true of the 9th Circle . . . )
Alice has gone back through the Looking Glass. "Gay Republican" is contradiction enough, but then to have the Alice/Jabberwok thrown in with them makes my head spin. O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
I think they are so desperate from this long period of rejection by their own political party that they are trying to find a way to be relevant to them. Here they sit social and fiscal conservatives but repugnant to others like them. It's enough to make a person mentally ill.
