Last night, the politicians vying for the Republican presidential nomination participated in a debate in Ames, Iowa where, obviously, the marriage equality issue came up. All of the candidates - Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, or Jon Huntsman - voiced their opposition to marriage equality, although Huntsman voiced support for same-sex civil unions - which likely contributed to the conservative network's viewers giving him an overwhelming "thumbs down" via Fox News' live approval ratings system (watch the bottom of the screen). Bachmann in particular bragged about being the key author of a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
This is the debate, by the way, that Fox News banned openly gay candidate Fred Karger from participating in, although he met all of the criteria.
